May Reflection - Boundaries, Burnout & Sustainable Growth
Happy May!
The month of May often feels like a bridge season — spring is in full swing, but summer hasn’t quite arrived yet. Things are growing and shifting, even when the full picture isn’t clear.
Career growth can feel the same way.
Sometimes progress is obvious: a promotion, a new opportunity, a major decision. But often, growth happens more quietly — through deeper self-trust, more intentional choices, or simply recognizing how far you’ve already come.
For many of the women I work with, this season has brought reflection and transition: reassessing direction, navigating uncertainty, and trying to move forward without burning out in the process.
If that resonates, this edition is for you.
1 | WHAT’S NEW 🌟
Complimentary Summer Group Coaching Session (June-August in Uncertainty — Self-Paced Module (Pilot Opens in May)
This summer, I’m offering a small series of group coaching sessions — one each in June, July, and August.
These sessions offer a preview of my Leadership Accelerator Program, relaunching in the Fall, and an opportunity to experience group coaching in a low-pressure, collaborative space.
They are designed to give you space to slow down, reflect on your leadership challenges and aspirations, and gain clarity alongside other women navigating similar career questions.
Each session includes:
• 60 minutes of live group coaching
• Shared reflection and peer learning
• 10-15 min for questions about the upcoming Fall program
Group coaching can be powerful because hearing others articulate similar challenges often brings clarity, validation, and fresh perspective to your own experience.
These sessions may be especially helpful if you are:
• Feeling stuck or unclear about next steps
• Navigating confidence, visibility, or boundaries at work
• Wanting space to reflect more intentionally on a specific challenge
Each session is limited to 3 participants, with a focus on creating a well-matched group.
If you’d like to attend one of these summer sessions, sign up here to express your interest.

Boundaries Protect More Than Your Time
When people hear “boundaries,” they often think it’s about saying no.
But boundaries are also about protecting your energy, focus, and ability to grow without constant overextension.
Many high-performing women become known as the reliable one — the person who steps in, takes on more, and keeps everything moving. Over time, that can quietly shift from appreciation to expectation.
If this feels familiar, try this simple check-in:
Notice it
Where am I automatically taking on more than I need to?
Name it
• Is this truly my responsibility?
• Am I choosing this, or defaulting into it?
Adjust it
Choose one small boundary this week:
• Asking for clarity on priorities before taking on new work
• Saying “I can’t take this on right now” or “not this week”
• Blocking focused time and treating it as non-negotiable
• Redirecting requests back to the appropriate owner
• Being more intentional with what you say yes to
Boundaries are not about pulling back.
They help create the space needed for sustainable growth, well-being, and long-term success.

Burnout Doesn't Wait for a Good Time: Building Resilience Into Your Leadership with Dr. Rachel Goldman
FRIED. The Burnout Podcast
This conversation explores how burnout often builds quietly over time, especially when high performers keep pushing through stress without pausing long enough to notice the cost.
A key insight from the episode with Dr. Rachel Goldman is that feeling stuck doesn’t always signal the need for a major reset or complete life overhaul. In fact, all-or-nothing thinking can sometimes reinforce the very sense of paralysis it’s meant to solve.
Instead, small, intentional adjustments — one small tweak you can make today — can start to create momentum, clarity, and a greater sense of agency. This idea is also reflected in Dr. Goldman’s book When Life Happens, where she emphasizes small, practical, sustainable changes over dramatic reinvention.
She also reframes resilience as awareness rather than endurance — less about pushing through, and more about noticing early limits and responding before burnout turns into depletion.
If you’ve been feeling stretched lately, this is a thoughtful and grounding listen.
4 | COACHING REFLECTION 🤔
Where Are You Overextending Yourself Right Now?
This week, take a moment to pause and check in with yourself honestly.
When you’re focused on delivering, supporting others, or keeping everything together, overextension can start to feel normal.
Consider one area of your career right now:
• Where am I feeling emotionally overextended?
• What is energizing me vs. depleting me?
• What would shift if I protected my energy more intentionally?
• What is one boundary that could create more space or clarity this week?
You don’t need to fix everything at once.
Sometimes the most meaningful change starts with simply noticing what needs to shift.
