My name is Jennifer Purcell.

I’m a certified coach based in Toronto (Canada), supporting the career advancement of professionals of colour.

Why I Started Lead To Change

I am passionate about coaching! Especially the opportunity to guide and empower others to transform and achieve their personal best.

In 2019, I launched Lead to Change to support professionals of colour to navigate barriers to advancement and maximize their career potential. I work with individuals and organizations who share a similar focus.

Professionals of colour seek my support with career related questions. Most are seeking a promotion, exploring new career paths or transitions to a new job. They also bring forth diversity and inclusion (D&I) concerns, which impact professional development and belonging at work. These can include microaggressions, imposter syndrome, isolation, and a lack of mentors or a peer network.

Organizations seek my guidance on D&I matters to enhance engagement and boost talent retention. Typical focus areas include developing inclusive leadership practices, embedding D&I practices in existing team processes, and addressing diversity-based disagreements.

Leaders also sponsor my services for their employees of colour to demonstrate support for their career progression in the organization.

My coaching programs deliver results. The programs are short-term, usually 4-8 sessions, tailored to the client’s needs and ambitions.  My coaching style is action-oriented, solution-focused and empathetic. Clients gain confidence and clarity, enabling them to accelerate progress on their professional goals.

Clients benefit from my 30+ years’ of experience in government, working with and leading teams as well as mentoring individuals. In addition, my lived experience provides insight into the unique workplace challenges faced by professionals of colour as well as ways to navigate.

Lastly, my formal education includes coaching studies certified by the International Coaching Federation as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Studies & Economics. (For more information, see my LinkedIn profile here.)
