Career Clarity Newsletter - July Edition
Who's Missing From Your Career Support System?
Happy July!
Can you believe we're already halfway through the year?
Whether the first 6 months brought exciting opportunities, unexpected challenges, or a little of both, I hope you're finding a moment to reflect on how far you've come and what you'd like the next chapter to feel like.
While it's easy to focus on the next goal or milestone, our careers are also shaped by the people around us — the ones who encourage us, challenge our thinking, and remind us what's possible.
July is the perfect time to reconnect with those relationships and be intentional about the support you need for the season ahead.
That's why this month I'm sharing the Circle of Success Workbook, a free interactive online resource designed to help you do exactly that
Because some of the biggest career breakthroughs don't come from working harder. They come from having the right people beside you.
1 | WHAT’S NEW 🌟
Build Your Circle of Success — Free Interactive Workbook
Career success is rarely a solo achievement, even though many high-achieving women have learned to carry a lot on their own.
The truth is, growth is easier and more sustainable when you have the right people around you.
In less than 10 minutes, the Circle of Success Workbook will help you take stock of the people supporting your career and where you may want to strengthen your network.
Inside, you'll explore 5 key roles in a strong inner circle — Champion, Mentor, Believer, Challenger, and Anchor — and consider which relationships you'd like to invest in more intentionally.
One question I keep coming back to is:
Who celebrates my success and reminds me what I'm capable of?
Access the interactive online workbook here.
* if you’d like to keep a copy of your responses, be sure to print or save a screenshot before you leave the page.
I'd love to hear which role resonates most with you.
2 | SPOTLIGHT 💬
Give Yourself Permission to Be Supported
Over the past few weeks, I've noticed a pattern.
I've had several conversations with clients who were navigating very different career challenges — preparing for a promotion, moving through a career transition, or stepping into a new leadership role.
On the surface, their situations were different.
But underneath each conversation, the same belief kept showing up:
I should be able to figure this out on my own.”
Many ambitious women have built successful careers by being capable, resilient, and independent.
Those qualities are strengths.
But when independence becomes the default, asking for support can start to feel uncomfortable — or even unnecessary.
One of the biggest shifts I see with clients is moving from asking:
"How do I solve this?"
to asking:
"Who do I need in my corner right now?"
That shift doesn't diminish your independence — it expands what's possible.
Instead of relying on one perspective, you benefit from the experience, encouragement, and insights of people who want to see you succeed.
The result isn't that someone else solves the problem for you.
It's that you make better decisions because you don't have to navigate them alone.

How Do I Build My Network From Scratch
New Here (Harvard Business Review)
If you've ever wondered where to start with networking — or worried you're starting too late — this episode offers a refreshing perspective.
Networking isn't about collecting contacts or "getting ahead."
It's about finding ways to support other people and building genuine relationships over time.
What I also appreciated is how honest the episode is about the early stages of networking — the awkward first messages, the uncertainty of who to reach out to, and the discomfort of building a network from scratch.
A few reminders that stayed with me:
• Relationships start with small interactions, not perfect ones
• Supporting others often creates future opportunities
• Meaningful connections are built slowly, not all at once
If you've been waiting for the right time to reconnect with someone, ask for guidance, or strengthen your circle, consider this your sign that you don’t need a perfect script — just the willingness to take the first step.
4 | COACHING REFLECTION 🤔
The Reach Out You’ve Been Putting Off
Think about someone you haven't spoken to in a while — a former manager, mentor or a colleague whose perspective you value.
Who came to mind immediately?
Often, it isn't time.
It's the assumptions we make.
• "It's been too long."
• "They'll think I only need something."
• "They probably don't remember me."
Before accepting those thoughts as facts, get curious.
Reflect
Looking at your network, who have you been hesitant to contact — and what story have you been telling yourself?
Pause
Is that story based on evidence, or are you filling in the blanks with fear or uncertainty?
Take Action
Send one simple message with a clear reason for reaching out.
Notice
Pay attention to what happens.
Did the outcome match the story you were telling yourself — or did you learn something new?
Sometimes the people we need most are already there, we just need to reopen the door.
